Before beginning to advertise your DirectMatches business, make this decision…
“Do I want a professional income, or do I want a hobby income?” If you treat your DirectMatches business like a professional business – you’ll make a professional income. Treat your business like a hobby, and earn a hobby income.
Time Management
One of the most important considerations to the growth of your business is time management. How you manage your time will directly effect how fast your business grows.
Utilize a written check list
Each and every day write down your tasks to be sure to not forget them and check them off as you complete them. Identify and categorize your tasks in order of importance. Your tasks should be completed in this order #1. Team Assistance, #2. Follow Up, #3. Initial contact (advertising).
Anytime you do something for a subscriber in your team, executive/manager/customer – it is Team Assistance.
Anytime you do something for a free subscriber, or answer an email or voicemail with an invitation – it is Follow Up.
Anytime you place an ad, make new contacts in online communities, fill out a capture page, surf for new advertising sites – it is Initial Contact.
When I approach my computer, I categorize and prioritize what’s in my email and voicemail. Complete all tasks in each category - in order of priority – before moving to the next category of tasks.
Growing Beyond Your Capability
This is entirely possible to do. You have so many upgrades happen in a short amount of time – have several new Representatives to show systems to and assist… it can be hard to get to your Initial Contact tasks – that’s o.k.
Your Ultimate Goal
Your ultimate goal is to find business builders, and show them how to find business builders. Show them how to become efficient in the systems, routines, and tasks involved in building their business to the point that they can operate on their own, and train others to do the same. Then when they are fully trained and building their own team, you are free to take on another trainee…
If you have limited time, you will only be able to work with a limited amount of people – If you take on too many trainees, you sacrifice the quality of your assistance to your team leaders. By categorizing your tasks, if you are spending most of your available time with trainees and have no time for ads its o.k. That means you’ve reached the limit on how many people you can train, as they require less attention with experience – you gain the time back to advertise until someone takes the open trainee spot. It’s a give and take system of time management, designed for business growth at its fastest rate – with your available time.
Pass this information piece (and all information) to your team members for their review and use.
Arm your team with effective tools.
Prepare your team for what to expect.
Advertising Systems
There are really 2 types of advertising – Passive and Aggressive.
Aggressive Advertising: Forms of advertising that occupy your time, and require you to physically be there to operate. Conversations on the phone or in person, email sending, attending online chats, guests on opportunity calls, etc…
Passive Advertising: Any form of advertising that you physically place once, and it continues to run over and over without you having to physically attend to it. Ads in the paper, posting on a message board online or offline, pay-per-click, community profile pages, etc…
The Big Difference: Most aggressive Advertising systems bring higher returns than most Passive Advertising systems. There are many venues available in advertising for your DirectMatches business… the “x” factor? Time Blocks.
Time Blocks
What time blocks do you have available to do business? 5pm to 11pm? 11pm to 1am? 4am to 6am? Your current schedule will determine what time blocks you have available to do business, the time blocks available will determine what advertising systems will work best for you…
If you have 11pm to 1am each night as your available time block to do business, then calling people would not be a good idea, but placing passive ads – or sending emails would be fine to do. If you have from 5pm to 11pm to do business – use time blocks to organize your efforts… Let’s say there are 25 email responses in your inbox, and 10 voicemail messages – at 5pm when you arrive home. Organize these tasks so that you can get the most out of your time available… you know that calling people past 9pm is not a good thing to do most of the time, so, since you have from 5pm to 11pm to work, get your calls out of the way first during the “calling” time block of 5pm to 9pm – and do the emails after 9pm since they are not schedule affected or “time sensitive”.
Most passive advertising can be placed at any time, most aggressive advertising has a “time block” that it is best suited for. Identify your available time blocks and which advertising systems will work best within them.
Online and Offline Marketing
Whenever you market anything in a downline home business, Realize that you are actually marketing 2 things, Product & Opportunity.
What’s your Product? Who would want it most? Satisfied product users also make the best representatives in your team. Sponsoring people who are satisfied product users is called “Leading with the product.”
What’s your Opportunity? Who would want it most? Opportunity seekers join as business builders, and most go to work right away. Advertising to opportunity seekers is called “Leading with the opportunity.”
Leading with our product: The DirectMatches product is a profile page in a global online business community. Offering networking, Advertising, Training, and Automated Introductions.
Our target market is online business people – mostly networkers looking for more exposure for their business. Most of our target market is online, but offline systems also work to lead with our product. Some offline marketers would like more online exposure.
Anytime you talk opportunity to a product user it’s “Leading with the product.”
Leading with opportunity is different, you are exposing a business, not a product.
Leading with our opportunity: In leading with opportunity it is important to possess 2 things – Company/Product knowledge & Presentation tools. Always do everything possible to use the presentation tools available.
A great strategy for leading with opportunity – “Generate Curiosity”, use just enough information to make someone curious – and call you or email you. When they do – send them to a company presentation tool – let the tool explain your opportunity for you.
Then answer any questions your curious person might have (company and product knowledge).
In generating curiosity, you want to advertise in such a way that you expose opportunity without giving detail, but also careful with the wording so that you attract the “type” of person that you want…
Here’s 2 examples…
#1. “I made $7,000. in 1 week while watching t.v. – see how (website link)
#2. “Earn Cash. Easy, Any Schedule, Online System can set you free (website link)
What “kind” of person would ad #1 attract? Someone that expects big money for doing nothing, in a short amount of time.
What “kind” of person would ad #2 attract? The word “earn” is used so they know work is involved, the word system is used so they know they would need to follow direction, being set free implies financial independence.
I’ll take the people who answer ad #2.
If you haven’t received copies of “Listening for Success” by Steve Shapiro, or “As a man thinketh” by Napoleon Hill – send me an email and I will send your copies. The information in these 2 texts will make you an expert in “Leading with opportunity” be sure to save your copies to your computer and pass them on to upgraded team members.
Making Your Commitment
How long does it take to become a millionaire in the U.S.?
What Other Industries other than Home Marketing offer a million dollar paycheck?
Doctors and Lawyers – each of those professions require 7 to 8 years of school, without earning a dime, then paying off school loans – its 10 years before the Doctors or Lawyers begin to make money.
Got Talent? Musicians and Authors and Artists and Actors and Athletes make millions of dollars – most spend decades developing their skills before being noticed.
Home Marketing is really the only opportunity for an average person without special skills to make a million dollars – in 2 to 5 years.
How long are you willing to commit to the relatively easy trade of home marketing?
It’s your life, how many years are you willing to commit – to living the rest of it financially free?
How many books are you willing to read to earn 1 million?
Make your commitment, decide what its worth to you in effort and time invested – to make 1 million dollars.
Then go for it!
The Professional Marketer
What is a professional marketer? If you spend 2 hours a day – 5 days each week on your business, you are a professional marketer.
What is the difference between an amateur and a pro? Pay.
There are 2 things that you need to do to succeed at marketing…
#1. Get serious about 1 opportunity.
#2. There are 3 behaviors to improve & develop…
First: Preparation – Committed time to learning your company, product/service, and industry.
Second: Presentation – Do you need to know how to present? No. Company tools can do this for you, but developing personal presentation skill goes a long way for your business.
Third: Persistence – You only have to persist at preparation and presentation.
There are only 2 things that pay you…
#1. Talking to new people.
#2. Talking about products.
You must learn emotional control. You must develop the ability to handle yourself emotionally. Success and Failure are related to emotions and how you handle emotions.
Stay focused – how do horses race to win? With blinders on – looking straight ahead.
People that see wealth building don’t quit networking businesses.
Are you today, where you thought you would be 5 years ago?
Are you going to be where you want to be in 12 months?
Make this your best year ever!
Team Leading
I learned Team Leading in the U.S.Navy… There is a simple philosophy to leading…
“Lead by example.”
I worked for this store manager once who spent his entire shift at his desk reading the newspaper on most days – and he would complain about his people not getting their work done.
Leading a home marketing team isn’t difficult.
Do you want your team to work? Then you work.
Do you want your team to duplicate? Then you duplicate.
Do you want your team to pass info? Then you pass info.
All of the things that you want your team to do, you must do first, and show them how.
Read books – refer good one’s to team members, try new ad systems – refer good one’s to team members, attend trainings – take good notes and pass them along to your team.
Be there for team members in support, and answering questions – and they will duplicate what you do.
Mind Set
Challenge your mind set…
The last time you approached a task with dread… How did you feel while performing that task?
The last time you approached a task with excitement… How did you feel while performing that task?
Bill Weber once said that when he sits down in front of his computer he thinks to himself… “I’m the best networker in the world.”
Imagine approaching your tasks with that kind of mind set.
Good and Bad
You’re going to have good and bad days, good and bad times while networking. Keep in constant contact with your team. When things are going good, go downline with them. When things are going bad, go upline with them.
Do your homework on your company and on the home marketing industry. This will give you multiple benefits – the 2 biggest benefits are…
#1. You’ll have great “sell points” in opportunity conversations for company and industry.
#2. You increase your ability to recognize trends in industry and advertising, giving you a “first mover advantage”.
Take key notes on anything you study (books and websites), during training calls, while attending seminars and classes – read over your key notes occasionally and set the information into long term memory.
Promoting your DirectMatches Business
The first thing you need to do in promoting your DirectMatches Business is to develop a business plan that details what activity you will perform, which systems and routines you will use to build your team, what time blocks you have available for your tasks, etc…
One of the best tools at your disposal is the “Direct Response” email system – this takes your new contact from someone who never knew you, into a position on your team. The follow-up, profile review, and profit stream letters are a systematic way to build a business relationship with a new person. Every member of this team should have received a copy of the “Direct Response” email system – this system is complete – and utilizes email for sponsoring, the initial contact being made through email, with email follow-up welcome letters, profile review letters and profit stream letters. This entire system can be utilized by anyone on any schedule – since its email, and schedule for most people is a major obstacle.
However the initial contact can be made in various ways – with an email or telephone follow-up after a person joins.
Alternative “Initial Contact” Methods for “Direct Response” Follow-Up
Online Communities – Join free communities and look for leaders within the communities, who have large contact lists. Go for Global Communities and look for the leaders within the communities to contact.
Forums – Same as Communities.
Chats – Same as Communities.
Ad Searches – What if you targeted people with companies who had large lists? Search for “List Sales” and “Lead Companies”. Get creative with your online searches – when you arrive at an advertisers page – fill out the capture page and wait for their reply – when you get the reply – send an invitation.
Traffic Exchanges – Do a search for “Traffic Exchange Companies” or “Global Traffic Exchange” – sign up with an exchange company. The way this works – you agree to surf as many ads as the company requires to get yourself some free advertising with this company – and then you get to surf ads for others in the company doing the same thing…
Does any market other than other marketers getting free ad credits see your ads? No. that’s o.k. – they are your target market anyway for your product, so in your traffic exchange ad – lead with the product. Here’s the thing, since you have to surf to build your ad credits – surf home businesses – fill out their capture pages – when they reply, send an invitation. If someone reply’s to your ad or signs up from your ad – great, if someone signs up from your surfing to get free ad credits – even better… it’s a 2 for 1 deal. If they don’t have a capture page – look for a “contact us” button/link on their web page.
Telephone – get a local newspaper, look for the home marketers that are advertising with the paper. Call them, let them know that you are giving away free advertising online and helping people set up profile pages in our global online community. Anytime that you use the telephone for contacting people – be prepared to leave voicemail messages – have a short script prepared for answering machines. Go online and look up the ads in papers across the country – find the home marketers and call them or email – assist them in going online in our community. Collect Business Cards – call the people who left the cards, most convenience stores and little gas stops and restaurants have pin boards for people to leave business cards – free leads baby! Also leave a few of your own business cards wherever you see these posting places – carry your business cards with you at all times.
Invite people in various ways, and once they join, let the
Welcome/Profile Review/Profit Stream/Auto-Follow Up (system feature) letters upgrade them.
Call Script (For people in DM Back Office)
Contact people who have phone numbers in your back office – personally enrolled page.
Be prepared for voicemail.
Hi I’m Bannavti Eric,
I’m your sponsor at DirectMatches. How’s it going?
(Answer from them) If answer is out of ordinary – negative or just odd – improvise your questions based on response.
I was calling you to talk with you a little about Directmatches features and how to get the most out of them. Do you have any questions?
(Answer from them) Again – improvise here – the response might be about opportunity, features, strategies, or nothing. If you aren’t given a lead to follow by the person you are talking with – interview them.
How long have you been marketing from home? (Answer from them)
What kind of training are you going through? (Answer from them)
Try to find with each person – a way that you can provide value to them in keeping in contact with you. Lead them to free tools or resources. Also ask – “have you looked at your Binary Geneology? (Answer from them)
Tell them the actual numbers that you draw up for them.
Close the conversation by saying you are there to assist them, and to contact you when they want to.
First Call = First Impression. Always say that it’s nice to meet them.
Categorize Clientele
Categorizing clientele helps a great deal in how you approach your contacts…
Cold Market: People who don’t know you.
Warm Market: Associates from present and past, distant relatives, people who share a common interest.
Hot Market: Spouse, Close family and Friends.
Know that – the hot market is the hardest to work in and the warm market is the easiest. With DirectMatches, the cold market person is a person who is not in an online business, and you’ve approached them leading with opportunity. Every lead with product person that you approach is in your warm market – you are both marketers and share a common interest.
How to Promote Anything
There are 2 ways to promote anything…
Dollar Focus and Value Focus.
Dollar Focus: Dollar focused activity uses negative psychology and plants negative seeds… Manipulation, fear of Loss, and Take Aways, The talk is about pay and making pay. Recruit, recruit, recruit – get paid and move on to the next check. When you need assistance – dollar focused people can’t be found or are too busy enrolling to assist team members. Most Dollar Focused programs don’t teach leadership and dollar focused people don’t learn leadership. Dollar focused advertising is 80% about pay. Dollar Focused advertising attracts dollar focused team members.
Value Focus: Value Focused activity uses benefits, features and problem solving to make pay. The talk is about benefit and problems solved. Team Leading and team assistance is a priority in value focused programs. Most reps in value focused programs become well trained business people with a variety of skills developed through personal development study. Value Focused advertising is 80% about features & benefits. Value Focused advertising attracts value focused people.
Value Focus in Leading
A value focused leader knows that everyone comes to the team with different levels of skill, and some will require more attention than others in training. Value focused leaders never stop learning and sharing. A value focused leader provides their team with training and arms their team with effective tools.
Being Creative with your Profile
This is where your future team members get their first impression of you. Who do you want to attract? The wording in your “About Me” section will attract a target market.
What else does your profile offer in attraction? Visual appeal is important, you don’t want a background that’s too distracting or that blends into the text too much. You can load a 30 second commercial or use a popular video to attract your viewers attention. I prefer a video on my own profile page, they play for 3 to 5 minutes. If you use a popular song/video – your viewer will stay longer, and view your info for more than just a glance.
What else? Offer free things to your visitors – business training material attracts – business people. Use free downloads, or free tools and services, use links to sites that have these things for free as well.
Turn your profile into a resource that people will want to visit over and over.
A favorite quote is a good addition to your “about me” section – this lets people know who in history that you might admire.
Another great way to utilize your profile is in training material for your team and contacts placed in your “blog” or “networks” sections. This information is also a good example to your visitor of what you may offer to them as a business partner, if they were to join your team. Always include you business email and voicemail number in your “about me” section so that your free members can contact you - even if their “trial” on “my mail” has expired.
Keep this in mind when you detail your profile page…
What would Donald Trump’s profile page look like?
Find a Mentor
One of the best things you can do for the growth of your business, and yourself, is to find a mentor. Now, you don’t have to walk up to someone and say “Hey, would you be my mentor?” They don’t even need to know that you are listening to what they have to say.
One of my best upline mentors taught me many things, two of the guidelines for my business operations were given to me by him…
“Develop systems and routines that bring consistent results.”
“Recruiting is a process, not an event.”
With DirectMatches, there are several systems and routines to be utilized… Taking someone from a person who never knew you, into the position of business partner is a process…
Let’s look at “Leading with Product”
Your target market for leading with product, online business owners – you use one of the various ways to give them a free profile page and they join…The first thing they see is your profile page – for most people…
Unless you can stay on top of your computer for 24 hours a day – someone else in the community will say hello to them before you can.
Don’t worry, they have only 1 sponsor – you – and that gives you a position with them that no one can contest. Set up to receive email responders from DirectMatches and the very same day you receive the notice of a new member – send them a welcome email. In your welcome email, you can offer various things and direct your new member to become a contact of yours. Then go look for their profile page through the DirectMatches “Username Search” feature – request for them to be a contact when you review their profile page – send a “Profile Review” letter.
(Each letter mentioned in this text can be found in your “Direct Response” email system.)
Your welcome letter and profile review letter each have helpful tips included, and an offer to assist people if they have questions. This is a show of value to your new person, in you as a business partner.
o.k. – for sure they will look at your profile now…
And there you are. This forms the complete image – and first impression that someone gets of you. It is a lasting impression.
Your profile page should be visually appealing, but not distracting or hard to read. Personal in style, but professional in content.
Give impressions of “you” the person, and impressions of “you” the business person.
Color, Picture, how you feel about the DirectMatches opportunity, a favorite quote by a historical figure you admire, business info you possess (value as a partner), free gifts and downloads, place upline and “top persons” like hwinwood (Howard Winwood) and megladon (Bill Weber) – as well as team members in your “favorites” box on your profile page. Be sure to disable the “comments” feature on your profile page – unless you want other people’s ads to distract your visitors.
I make sure that my video has a positive message, is upbeat, and popular – to hold the interest of my visitors and provide another impression of “me” the person.
“People don’t join companies, they join people.”
Build relationships – anyone that leaves a phone number in your back office “personally enrolled” section - wants you to call them and talk about business.
o.k. they have an idea of you, and what kind of person you are. They may have questions about your opportunity, they may not.
Answer the questions – and move on…
Continue to enroll people under them and let the DM System auto follow-up work, then, follow the direction of your first profit stream letter found in your “Direct Response” email system. They may have questions about your opportunity, they may not.
Answer the questions - and move on…
Continue to enroll people under them until it’s time to send a 2nd profit stream letter – and continue to repeat this cycle.
The methods used to initially contact people are different systems/routines – direct response, traffic exchange, online communities, any advertising that leads to a free member has a system/routine that ends in the person receiving an invitation for their free profile – this is where that system ends – as far as enrolling people, THEN the Process of exposing value in yourself as a business partner, value in your products, value in your company, and the value in your opportunity begins.
“When people see the value, they join.”
Find a mentor, monitor them, monitor yourself. Ask what books your mentor recommends, what are their learning resources. Monitor yourself for improvements, find and face your weaknesses. Several books have been written on various business building and personal development subjects. Arm yourself with effective skills. There are several top mentors online – Jim Rohn (one of my favorites), Zig Ziglar, Brian Tracy, Mike Brescia – to name a few. There are many others just as notable.
Everywhere You Go
You can do business everywhere you go…
This may be a bit outside of the lines as far as proper goes (a great lesson to learn early – you can’t please everyone – don’t bother trying) – this is the military in me talking…
Remember the 6 “P”s: Piss Poor Preparation Prevents Proper Performance.
Be prepared to do business each time you leave your home. Carry various items to do business in your car and on your person – Drop Cards, Brochures, Tear Tab Flyers, Scotch Tape…
Carry 2 types of cards on your person at all times – 1 type for product, 1 type for opportunity. Have a magnetic sign made for your car, or a window cling – design something nice, the company logo looks good – 1st class is best for image, have them professionally made.
Have some “Mini-Billboards” made.
Here’s the deal…
Drop Cards: Design to generate curiosity, use phone number as contact info.
Brochures: Buy these through DirectMatches “Back Office” “marketing” link.
Tear-Tab Flyers: Design to generate curiosity, use phone number as contact.
2 Cards with You: 1 is business style card with company flash presentation or sizzle call, and phone number for contact. 1 is a “Lead with product” card – generates desire through benefit and features –
Example of “Leading with Product” card:
Get your free online business profile page, in our free global online community – free networking, free advertising, free tools, auto-introductions, and much more!

Car Sign: Generates curiosity, use phone number as contact.
Mini-Billboards: Generates curiosity, use phone number as contact.
For the most part, the people you meet and that respond will be opportunity seekers. You interview them, ask them – “What interested you about my ad?” “Why does working from home interest you?” LISTEN to their answers. Use questions, talk with them and see if they are the type of person who fits this opportunity… 2 people you don’t want to talk to – satisfied people, and negative people. Satisfied people have no reason to go to work, and negative people find ways to talk themselves out of the work.
To use offline systems you need a proper time block available for phone calling – most of the people who contact you will be in your local area.
With offline advertising there is a lower response rate to your advertising efforts – but a faster team building effect because everyone who joins that way goes right to work as a representative.
These activities fall well within the category of “Aggressive Advertising” – you physically have to be there to place the ads and for the phone follow-up.
The best benefit to offline systems is that they allow you to advertise everywhere you go during the day and evening – if you are away from your computer and home a lot – you can still effectively promote your business – without the computer. Use both online AND offline methods - and significantly increase the number of responses from your efforts, and rate of growth in your team.
In closing…
Become a collector of industry knowledge for use in conversation…
DirectMatches is not sales – it is promotion of value to the end user and representative.
The best leaders are the best students.
See You At The Top!
